My Family
Castors & Larsons
My Castor Family.
My grandfather, Charles Albert Castor was born 4 April 1875 in Millersburg, Holmes County, Ohio. At that time Ulysses S. Grant was still president. He was president until March of 1877. Grandpa was known as Albert, it must have been a tradition back then to go by middle names. My father was Charles Vaughn and went by Vaughn and my uncle went by Arnold and his name was John Arnold. Grandpa Castor, as I called him, was the son of John Hamilton Castor, 1836 to 1908. Grandpa's grandfather was Thomas Caster, 1793 to 1873. His great-grandfather was John Caster Sr. abt. 1754 to 1822.
Grandpa was married to LaVerna Jack Arnold on the 28th December 1904. They had four children; Dorothy Audrea Castor, Aunt Audrea, born 28 Aug. 1905; my father, Charles Vaughn, 10 Nov. 1906; John Arnold, Uncle Arnold, 12 Jan 1909; and Virginia Louise, Aunt Virginia, 15 May 1913. I guess by then first names were good onough.
My Larson Family.
My grandfather Victor J. Larson was born in Rosenborg, Sweden 28 November 1884. His father, Anders Johan Larsson and his mother, Sophia. His father, Andrew had soon come to the U.S. and settled Danville, Vermilion, Illinois working on the railroad repairing and building box cares. As soon as he had saved enough money, about a year later, he sent for his family to come to the U.S. with him. Andrew worked on the railroad for about 20 years and died of Pneumonia in a boarding house in Cook County, Illinois.
Andrew and Sophia had six children, Josephine, Helen and Victor, born in Sweden. Wallace, Alice and Walter were born here in the United States. Josephine married Albert Sandberg and they had two children. Helen married Herman Krintz and they lived in Los Angeles, California. Victor married Ella B. Newman and they had five children. Wallace married Ruth Carrigan and they had one child. Allice married Arthur Peltier and they had three Children. Walter married Roda Deem and as far as I know they had no children.
